Community Partnerships
The only way we can end homelessness is by working together as a community.
We are proud to leverage the passion, skill, and expertise of our vast network of volunteers and partners who enrich our services and provide positive support to our program participants as they transition out of homelessness.
In 2023, LAFH leveraged our community partnerships to provide telehealth services and launch a Substance Use Disorder program at our interim housing sites for adults, and to expand on-site mental health services at our permanent supportive housing sites.

Donor Spotlight
The Breslauer Family *edits from SKG
When a family is driven by passion and service, it dramatically impacts future generations, especially those with the greatest needs. The Breslauer and Abrams families have committed over 16 years to supporting our unhoused population through LA Family Housing’s work. Individually and through their family foundations, three generations of Breslauers have demonstrated their dedication to LAFH as donors, service volunteers, and leaders. Their contributions have transformed countless lives, demonstrating a deep commitment to LAFH and our mission of ending homelessness in people’s lives.
Michele Breslauer, a children’s rights attorney, joined the LAFH Board in 2008 and is a past Board Chair. In addition to donating her time to the board and providing ongoing financial support, Michele has been joined by her husband Jeffrey and their children in multiple ways: by hosting and serving annual Thanksgiving meals for LAFH participants, securing items for our fundraising auctions, donating gift cards during the holidays to help families in need, and participating in a collage of volunteer opportunities.
Michele’s parents, Ben and Irma, have generously supported LAFH for several years, sponsoring our annual LAFH Awards and contributing to the Irmas Family Campus capital campaign through the Samuel and Helene Soref Foundation. Other family members, including Jim and Liz Breslauer (The Breslauer-Soref Foundation) and Stephen Breslauer (The Soref-Breslauer Texas Foundation), have made this family’s collective giving even more significant. Like his daughter and grandchildren, Ben volunteers too, joining Michele each year to participate in the Greater L.A. Homeless Count at the LAFH Campus deployment site.
Michele and her family’s multi-generational and multi-layered support is a beacon of hope and inspiration, providing critical resources needed to carry out our mission while inspiring others to join our collective efforts toward ending homelessness. As we celebrate the Breslauers’ remarkable contributions, we also acknowledge that their partnership is integral to the success of our work at LAFH. Their support has been a driving force behind our mission, and we are deeply grateful for their generosity and compassion. Their story and personal involvement with LAFH are an excellent reminder that we continue to make a profound and lasting impact when we come together as a community.
